Setter’s notes
Carry On Behind (1975) is one of the LAST and least of the Carry On films that plagued British cinemagoers through the ’60s and ’70s (and TV schedules for decades after). Nothing else here I feel the need to excuse myself for — I hope you have fun.
Across
- 1 & 4 Down “Students” = LL + “low” = MOO, all in “entertainment” = FUN — FULL MOON.
- 4 “Lieutenant” = LT, with “tuber” = ME at the front — MELT, “drip”.
- 6 “Hot” = H, with “porridge” = OATS around it — OATHS, “promises”.
- 7 The close of “outrighT” + “nonsense” = ROT — TROT, a leftist.
- 8 “New” = N + “listener” = EAR — NEAR, “just around the corner”.
Down
- 1 Sounds like (“we hear”) “imperial units” = FEET — FEAT.
- 2 Hidden (“case for”) in “difficULT RAdical” — ULTRA.
